To describe in more detail the way the Lord called us to Alaska, we are including the PDF file (see left column) of our Alaska Journal, which includes the many things God used to show us without a doubt that Alaska is the place that He would have us to serve Him.
He simply would not let us get away from the call to Alaska - He continuously brought things across our path about Alaska - for about two years - as well as three preachers who came through our church who all mentioned having been to Alaska, not knowing how the Lord had been dealing with us about the need there.
We know that our call is real because Alaska is the last place that we ourselves would choose to go - it was totally ordered of the Lord and I'm sure you'll enjoy reading how the Lord began showing us His perfect will.
Once we surrendered to God's call, went on our Survey Trip (September 2005), was ordained (April 2006), was accepted by Points North (September 2006), and began deputation, our question was, naturally, "Where, Lord? It's such a huge place." I knew God wanted us to go where the need was, but there are many needy areas in Native Alaska and I needed the Lord to reveal this to me.
One day while I was praying this prayer I was looking at our Powerpoint Presentation. Suddenly God brought something to my attention that I had never seen before. We had been using a picture of a little girl named Mary, and on her red cap were the words BETHEL ALASKA, and it was like the Lord just said to me "That's it! That's the area I want you in!" It just thrilled my heart to see how the Lord answered that prayer so directly.
We are sent to suffer, to love, to teach, to preach, to disciple for His sake - whether or not the Gospel is accepted, we must go. We are compelled to go. We cannot resist the call of God. It is God's purpose that they be told the Gospel of Jesus Christ clearly and plainly in their own tongue.
